Description

One of the world’s natural wonders, Padauk comes from the jungles of Central & Tropical West Africa. It grows to heights of 100′ to 135′ and can be as big as four feet in diameter.

It is commonly used to produce decorative detail in a variety of items such as guitars, turnings, boxes & cutting boards. Most freshly cut logs are a vibrant orange color that will darken with age unless protective coatings are used. It’s straignt grain and medium density make it easy to work with. The boards are available in long wide lengths with little to no knots which insures high yields. Wood workers like it because it readily accepts wood glue and finishes. It’s a very stable wood that is extremely resistant to decay.

Ultraviolet light will darken the wood with exposure overtime. It’s natural color is best maintained by using UV-inhibiting finishes that provide a gradual color-shift of this brightly colored wood.
